    Principal's message

Welcome to California Avenue School. It is our hope that this website serves to introduce you to the school, provide helpful resources, and inform you of upcoming events. We value rigorous instruction and the infusion of developmentally-appropriate technology.  Teachers use the Houghton-Mifflin Harcourt 'Splash Into Pre-K' curriculum - a multi-subject curriculum that aligns to the California Preschool Learning Foundations.  It includes Spanish language supports and provides modifications for students with special needs. Supplemental curriculums used at the school include Avenues, Tuned Into Learning, and Handwriting Without Tears. Over the course of the year, you will receive information about monthly parent trainings, parent support groups, and family connection activities. We encourage you to take advantage of these wonderful opportunities! Please refer to our school website for updates about school events. You may also follow the activities of our campus on Twitter @CalAveVUSD. It is a privilege to work alongside dedicated parents and teachers as we nurture, teach, and prepare our young students for educational success.

    Our school mission

The Mission of California Avenue School is to provide a nurturing place where all students are educated in an inclusive and respectful environment, to provide opportunities for all students to become responsibly independent to their greatest extent, and to support each other and the community in the pursuit of lifelong learning.
